Background: Isolated hypocortisolism due to ACTH deficiency is a rare condition that can be caused by mutations in the gene encoding pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC). POMC is the precursor to bioactive peptides (ACTH, β-endorphin, and α-β-γ-MSH).
